In its pilot launch in Kansas City, the Foresight Film and Music Workshop demonstrated the transformative power of creative education and community collaboration. Over the course of the program, dozens of young artists from diverse backgrounds were given access to industry-grade tools, professional mentorship, and a safe, inspiring environment to explore their voices through film and music.

About the Foresight Film & Music Workshop

The Foresight Film and Music Workshop is a dynamic, hands-on program designed to empower young, aspiring filmmakers and musicians. Through immersive learning experiences, participants gain essential industry knowledge and creative skills while being mentored by professionals in film and music.

The Team

With a career that spans over four decades, Willie D. Burton has worked as the production sound mixer on over 100 movies, since his first film, "Let's Do It Again." He is a two-time Oscar winner ("Bird" - 1988 and "Dreamgirls" - 2006) and one of two African-Americans to receive the Academy Award for Best Sound. Recently, Burton worked on the hit film, "Oppenheimer."

Dorez Douglas is a veteran film and television producer with over 30 years in the entertainment industry. She's the creative mind behind the cult comedy Beverly Hood and the ABC animated special Jirimpimbira. Her career has spanned indie gems and impactful mentorship through her DreamWorks-backed EITP program-helping the next generation of storytellers break into the business. 

Bukeka Blakemore is the Co-Founder and CEO of  FAVunite is a multimedia enterprise uniting FAVunite TV (video streaming) and FAVunite Radio (digital audio) under one mission: to center Black stories, creators, and culture across entertainment, education, and empowerment. She is also an award-winning singer, speaker, and entrepreneur. Her global impact includes representing Kansas City, Missouri as a UNESCO Creative City of Music.
