"The My Black Experience Challenge has allowed FAVunite to connect with people across countries through creativity, not politics. This approach fosters genuine interest and bridges divides by focusing on the heart of who we are. As a streaming platform, we are committed to showcasing meaningful content, especially with our roots in Africa. The overwhelming response means we had to develop new processes to move forward.

This project, which began in the middle of May 2025, quickly grew beyond its initial expectations thanks to a series of meaningful connections and shared goals. Here’s how the initiative unfolded and what made it impactful:

Project Origins and Growth

Start in May 2025: The My Black Experience Challenge launched in mid-May 2025, sparked by a connection with a friend in the UK who introduced your team to a group specializing in digital marketing support.

Talent Hub in Nigeria: This friend also managed a talent hub in Nigeria, which became a key partner in the project. The alignment between your visions allowed you to create a space not just for local participants, but for creative talent across Africa.

Expansion Across Africa: What began as an initiative involving groups from five countries soon expanded to eight, reflecting the project’s broad appeal and relevance.

Community Response and Impact

Modest Prize, Big Impact: The competition offered a modest prize of $200, which, while not large by some standards, was meaningful to participants. The team initially expected 60–100 submissions but received over 300 responses and nearly 100 pieces of content to review.

Surprising Relevance: The overwhelming response demonstrated that the challenge resonated deeply with participants. For many, the opportunity to showcase their talent and connect with others was more valuable than the prize itself.

Meaningful Connections: The project’s focus on creativity and community, rather than just competition, helped build genuine connections and fostered a sense of purpose among participants and organizers alike.
